Limón Limón is a self described Future Indie duo from Los Angelos. Through the power of digital recording and vintage equipment, they’ve successfully carved out a niche among indie music that involves marrying the past and the present while looking toward the future. Today we will be taking a look at their new single titled “Neon Lights In The Rain”.

First, I must comment on the album cover art, being somewhat reminiscent of a digital cubism. The synth radiating from the beginning of the track evokes a feeling of the neon soaked vibes of a ViceCity. The drums enter in a bit of a digital Purdee shuffle, almost like a “Rosanna” by Toto for a digital age listener. Some twinkly stepwise motion is heard from the higher register of a keyboard, and the track is firmly entrenched in a rich ocean of reverb. The vocals for the most part sound warm, and seem to deal with aesthetic themes of neon and afterglow. Some chunky strat-adjacent sounds as well as some roto-tom inspired sounds help round out the production. About three quarters of the way through the track, we are treated to an anthemic shreddytone guitar solo that is on point and on brand, before a final chorus takes us to a reverb laden synth outro.

In summary, I think that everything here was done competently are artfully. One small critical view that I could take would be that the song seems to lack a bit of energy that could possibly be provided by the vocals, but this is simply nitpicking a good thing to make it better. I can wholly recommend this track as a nice listen, and for this I must award Limón Limón’s “Neon Lights In The Rain” a score of “Deeeeecent”. Give these fine gentlemen a follow and listen to their new track, and subscribe to blog so you can catch every article! Until next time.
